How to Export Paprika Recipes: iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows

Keep the recipes you have collected, wherever you cook next. Make a useful Paprika backup, check what is in it and prepare the right file for your next recipe app.

How do you export all your Paprika recipes?

In Paprika 3, open Settings → Export Recipes on iPhone, iPad or Android, or File → Export on Mac or Windows. Choose All Recipes and export as HTML or Paprika Recipe Format. Keep the complete export, including its image files, before moving your collection. The platform steps below follow Paprika’s own guides.

Which Paprika export format should you choose?

For a useful backup, save both a readable copy and a recipe archive. Give each export a clear date and keep an untouched original. That small step makes it easier to check a later import or try another recipe manager without starting again.

FormatBest useWhat to keep
HTMLReading your recipes in a browser and sharing a portable collection. The whole export folder, not just index.html. Keep recipe files and images together.
.paprikarecipesA structured recipe archive for a compatible importer. The original file, with its filename extension unchanged.
PDF through printingA readable printout of favourites.Useful alongside your archive, rather than a substitute for an import-ready recipe file.

Paprika’s official export-format guide explains HTML and its recipe archive format. It also distinguishes printing to PDF from a direct PDF export. Renaming a PDF or ZIP to .paprikarecipes does not convert its contents.

Export Paprika recipes on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Paprika’s Settings and enter Export Recipes.
  2. Choose All Recipes, or select one category if you only want that group.
  3. Select HTML or Paprika Recipe Format, then start the export.
  4. Keep the generated file or folder somewhere you can find again.

The Paprika iOS guide documents the export under Settings and describes retrieval through file sharing. The final save or sharing controls can differ by app and iOS version. If your screen differs, use the help for your installed version rather than emailing individual recipes one at a time.

Export Paprika recipes on Android

  1. Open Settings in Paprika, then Export Recipes.
  2. Choose All Recipes and select HTML or Paprika Recipe Format.
  3. Tap Export and locate the result in your device’s Downloads folder.
  4. Copy the complete result to your chosen backup location.

The Downloads location comes from the Paprika Android guide. If you exported HTML, keep the folder contents together when transferring them to a computer.

Export Paprika recipes on Mac

  1. In Paprika’s menu bar, choose File → Export.
  2. Select a destination folder you will recognise.
  3. Keep All Recipes selected for a whole-collection export, then choose HTML or Paprika Recipe Format.
  4. Click Export. Keep this original separate from any copy you prepare for another app.

See the Paprika macOS guide for the platform’s export controls.

Export Paprika recipes on Windows

  1. Open Paprika and choose File → Export.
  2. Set the destination folder and select All Recipes, or the category you want.
  3. Choose HTML or Paprika Recipe Format and click Export.
  4. Check that the export exists in the selected folder before closing Paprika.

These controls are documented in the Paprika Windows guide. Turn on filename extensions in your file manager if you need to check which format you created.

Check your backup before you rely on it

Open the HTML export’s index.html in a browser to browse the saved recipe list. Paprika documents that index in its recipe-list guide. Then use a small, varied sample to check the details that matter to your cooking:

  • A family recipe with your own notes or substitutions.
  • A recipe with several ingredient groups and method sections.
  • A recipe with a photograph you added yourself.
  • A recent addition and an older favourite.

Compare their titles, quantities, method, notes and pictures against Paprika. Record your recipe count and the date of the export. If a file is empty, a photo is missing or the count looks wrong, investigate that before deleting anything or replacing a previous backup.

A recipe export is not a promise that another app will reproduce your pantry, past meal plans, reusable menus or category structure. Keep separate records of anything outside the recipe collection that you still need.

Prepare your Paprika export for CookBook

CookBook’s Pro import assistance accepts a Paprika HTML ZIP with images or a .paprikarecipes archive. If using HTML, compress the complete export folder rather than sending only its index. Keep your original copy.

Follow the Paprika-to-CookBook transfer guide for the account, handover and verification steps. It explains the difference between assisted Paprika transfers and CookBook’s self-service bulk importer.

After a move to CookBook, follow the CookBook backup checklist and keep this original Paprika archive.

Frequently asked questions

Does exporting delete my Paprika recipes?

An export creates a separate copy. There is no need to delete your Paprika library to prepare a backup or evaluate another app. Keep it while checking the exported and imported recipes.

Can I read my exported recipes without Paprika?

Yes. Paprika’s HTML export can be opened in a web browser. Keep the complete folder so its recipe pages and images remain together.

Can Paprika export recipes directly to CSV?

Paprika’s documented export choices are HTML and Paprika Recipe Format. CSV is not listed as a direct export option. Choose the format supported by your destination instead of changing a filename extension.

Should I use PDF when moving my recipe collection?

A PDF is useful for reading and printing. For an app migration, prefer a recipe archive the destination explicitly accepts so you are not rebuilding the collection from printouts.

Keep your favourites, then decide where they belong

Your recipe collection represents meals you want to make again. A checked backup gives you room to choose the app that suits your next chapter. Explore what makes CookBook different from Paprika, or bring your collection into CookBook when you are ready.
