Which cup does your recipe mean?

A US customary cup is about 237 ml. A metric or Australian cup is 250 ml, while an imperial cup is about 284 ml. Australian tablespoons are 20 ml; metric tablespoons are 15 ml.

Choose the recipe’s convention, rather than the language you speak. Fluid ounces measure volume; ounces measure weight. They need different conversions.

A cup of flour is not a cup of honey

Volume-to-weight results use the ingredient-density table from the CookBook app: volume in millilitres multiplied by the selected ingredient’s estimated grams per millilitre. Variety, moisture and packing affect the result. Use the recipe’s stated gram weights when available.

How do I convert cups to grams?

Select cups as the starting unit, grams as the result and choose your ingredient. The calculator multiplies the cup volume by the ingredient’s estimated density. Changing the ingredient or cup system changes the result.

Can I convert grams back to cups?

Yes. Use Swap units or select grams as the starting unit and cups as the result. Keep the ingredient and the cup system the same for the reverse conversion.

Are US and Australian tablespoons the same?

No. This calculator uses about 15 ml for a US tablespoon and 20 ml for an Australian tablespoon. Choose the recipe measurement system before converting.
