Ask CookBook
Ask about the recipe in front of you.
“I have chickpeas instead of chicken. How would you change this?” Ask CookBook with a saved recipe as context, add an image, or start with a general cooking question.
Review the suggested recipe, make your own edits, then save a new version or update the original. The change stays in your collection, ready for the next meal.
- Ask for ingredient swaps, a quicker method or help understanding a step.
- Explore dinner ideas with the ingredients you have.
- Preview a recipe draft before deciding what to keep.

AI Chef
Give dinner a starting point.
Tell AI Chef what you’re craving or which ingredients you want to use. Add preferences such as cuisine, servings or cooking time to shape a recipe idea.
Use the suggestion as a starting point: review the ingredients and method, make your own edits, then save the version you want to cook.

- Use what you have
Start with the ingredients in your fridge or cupboard and ask for an idea that brings them together.
- Try a variation
Ask for a vegetarian version, a different ingredient or a change that suits the way you like to cook.
AI Dish Detector
Bring a dish home, in your own way.
Take or choose a photo of a finished dish and let Dish Detector suggest a recipe inspired by it. It’s a way to explore something you enjoyed eating, even when you don’t have a written recipe.
A photo cannot reveal every ingredient or the original method. The result is a suggested version to review and adapt, rather than an exact copy.

Recipe editing
Keep the idea. Tidy the details.
The recipe editor brings practical AI tools together: suggest tags, estimate preparation and cooking times, tidy ingredients, simplify instructions or translate the recipe.
Choose the change you need, check the result and save it. Ask CookBook can help you think through a meal plan; you stay in control of adding recipes to the planner and shopping list.

Your CookBook
Save it. Make it yours. Cook it again.
Once you’ve reviewed and saved a recipe, it belongs in the same collection as your family favourites. Add tags, plan it for dinner, build a shopping list and open cooking mode.
AI can make mistakes. Check ingredients, allergens, quantities and cooking instructions before you save or cook a suggestion.

Frequently asked questions
What can I ask CookBook?
Ask cooking questions, request recipe ideas or ingredient swaps, and get help adapting a selected recipe. You can start with a saved recipe, an image or a question in your own words.
What is the difference between Ask CookBook and AI Chef?
Ask CookBook is a conversation for cooking help and working with recipe context. AI Chef starts with a description or ingredients to create a recipe suggestion. Both help you develop ideas you can review and save.
Can CookBook create a recipe from a photo of a meal?
AI Dish Detector can suggest a recipe inspired by a finished-dish photo. It estimates a possible recipe; it cannot recover the exact ingredients or method from the original cook.
Is Dish Detector the same as AI Recipe Scanner?
No. Dish Detector starts with a photo of food and suggests a recipe. AI Recipe Scanner reads written recipe text from cookbook pages, screenshots and handwritten cards into an editable recipe.
Learn about recipe scanning Will an AI variation overwrite my original recipe?
When saving a draft in Ask CookBook, you can choose to update the original recipe or save it as a new recipe. Review the result and choose the option you want.
Do I have to use the AI companion?
No. You can keep saving, organising, planning and cooking your own recipes without opening Ask CookBook. Its button can be hidden in Settings under Appearance.
Should I check an AI-generated recipe before cooking?
Yes. Review ingredients, allergens, quantities, timings and the method. AI suggestions are a starting point for your own judgement and edits.
